Skyway Isles: The Dream Development that Almost Was

Negotiations almost led to my acquiring Rattlesnake Key off the coast of the Skyway Bridge between Tampa Bay and North Manatee County. I would have renamed the 780 acre Islands Skyway Isles. I envisioned a car-less, eco-friendly community and resort with glass bottom kayaks, pressed seashell roads, and powered entirely by Tesla Power banks and solar. I received Letters of Interest to underwrite the purchase for up to $10M. Ultimately the bid failed because I could not raise enough commitments for Phase I capital and had to abandon the bid. Iconic architecture, evoking colors and shapes of the blues and whites of sailboats and the sea, I can still see it.
